SOUTH Africa-based songstress Betty Makaya has collaborated with Willis Wataffi on a single track titled Kilimanjaro, to be released in June.
Makaya, who is known for her collaboration with the late Jamal on the song Kurwizi, had taken a long break from music.
Many of her fans have been wondering whether or not she had retired from the music industry.
“I’m still into the music industry and I’m working on a single track with Willis Wataffi to be released anytime soon,” said Makaya.
The co-producer for Betty Makaya in Harare, Trevor Masango, who heads the Track Record Studios said Makaya still commands a huge following though she resides in South Africa.
Makaya managed to stage an Independence Celebrations Show held in Cape Town during Zimbabwe’s Independence commemorations last month.
“Her Independence celebrations show in Cape Town was well attended by both her South African fans and people from home. People still want Betty Makaya out there,” said Masango.
He said the Makaya/Wataffi single was expected to be out in June.
“It’s really a different Betty because she is tackling a new idea. This album will fuse house and Caribbean beats,” said Masango.
