PREPARATIONS are in full swing for the opening of a state-of-the-art health facility named Nyabane Clinic in Bulilima district, Matabeleland South Province.

Vice President Kembo Mohadi is on Friday expected to officially open the facility which is now complete.

The construction came following collaboration between the Nyabane Community, Diasporans, Bulilima RDC, former Bulilima East Constituency legislator Nqobizitha Ndlovu and the Church of Jesus of the Latter-Day Saints.

Early this year, the church poured in US$300 000 towards the completion of the clinic after the other parties had contributed towards the construction of the main structure.

Completed facilities include a main structure, three cottages and a mother’s shelter.

This news crew visited the clinic last week Wednesday where a preparatory meeting was held and attended by Headman Somfula, Bulilima DDC Mr Onesimo Zogara, Bulilima RDC CEO Mr Billiati Mulauzi accompanied by his colleagues, Bulilima Constituency legislator Cde Dingumuzi Phuti’s office, representatives from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, locals and Diasporans among other officials.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the DDF Water Division was drilling a borehole 200 metres from the facility as nearby sited points had been dry holes.

Today (Monday) officials from Zimbabwe Eletricity Supply Authority (ZESA) branch were connecting electricity to the facility.

A villager identified as MaDawu said they have longed to see the clinic operational after having worked hard to ensure its success.

“Since the start of the construction process we have been working in each development of the clinic and this week we will see history being made.

“We are happy we will no longer have to walk long distances to access health services,” said MaDawu.
