ZANU-PF Bulawayo Provincial Chairman, Cde Jabulani Sibanda, has revealed that the party leadership has played a crucial role in encouraging local businesses to support a programme providing free health services to elderly residents across the city.
For the past four weeks, elderly residents have been receiving free medical check-ups and medication every Wednesday at various locations throughout Bulawayo. This initiative is spearheaded by the Brian Samuriwo Foundation.
Initially, the health expo was focused on the residents of Luveve and Emakhandeni, neighborhoods where Cde Samuriwo began his political career. However, the city-wide health expo is apolitical and serves all elderly residents of Bulawayo.
“As party leadership in Bulawayo Province, we recognized the significant impact the Brian Samuriwo Foundation was making in the Luveve and Emakhandeni constituency.
“We requested Cde Samuriwo, in his capacity as chairman of the party’s business committee, to mobilize additional resources and expand the health expo to all suburbs in the city,” said Cde Sibanda.
Cde Sibanda was speaking at another health expo in Nketa on Wednesday, where numerous elderly residents received medical attention. He highlighted that every elderly citizen in Bulawayo is welcome to receive free medical services, regardless of political affiliation.
“The health of our elderly is very important to us, and we will continue seeking ways to assist them,” he stated.
Cde Mnonthisi Nsingo, ZANU PF Area 5 DCC chairperson, expressed gratitude to the organisers for their generosity. “We appreciate the initiative of the foundation, which has mobilised a team of doctors to provide services right where we live, eliminating the need for us to travel for medication. These health services are free, and we are thankful to the businesses that support our community,” said Cde Nsingo.
Brian Samuriwo, founder of the foundation and chairman of the ZANU PF Bulawayo Province Business Committee, emphasized that these health expos are essential for caring for vulnerable elderly individuals who struggle to afford medication.
The health expo has already benefited residents in Nketa, Emganwini, Nkulumane, Njube, Lobengula, Pelandaba, Iminyela, Mabuthweni, Mpopoma, Entumbane, Emakhandeni, Luveve, Cowdray Park, and other suburbs.
