BUSINESSMAN and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo, on Saturday, marked his birthday with a generous spree of donations valued at approximately US$5.3 million.

His gifts spanned vehicles and cash contributions aimed at supporting political, educational and religious institutions across Zimbabwe.

Chivayo donated six Toyota Land Cruisers, each valued at US$190,000, to the Zanu-PF top leadership for the Women’s League. Additionally, ten Toyota Hilux GD6 vehicles, worth US$65,000 each, were given to the Women’s League branches in the 10 provinces.

He also contributed US$500,000 in cash to Zanu-PF across the 10 provinces, reinforcing his support for the party.

In support of Young Women for Economic Development, Chivayo gifted five Toyota Hilux GD6 vehicles, each valued at US$65,000, along with US$100,000 distributed among the 10 provinces.

“As I celebrate my birthday, I cannot help but only wish my dear mother was here to narrate the dramatic events of 22 November 1980, when I was born. Despite this painful emotion, today I choose to celebrate her life, which remains an indelible mark and classical example of the heroism of motherhood.

“I therefore wish to honour all the mothers who have loved and embraced me as their own. Women who have supported me in my business ambitions and philanthropic work, choosing to see beyond the sterotyping that surrounds young business people, particularly those who openly support our ruling party, Zanu-PF,” said Chivayo on his official social media pages.

Beyond political contributions, Chivayo donated ten buses, each worth US$210,000, to the Johanne Masowe Church, enhancing their transport capacity.

In the education sector, he presented one bus valued at US$210,000 to Dudley Hall Primary School, where he did his Primary school education and another bus of equal value to John Landa Nkomo School, providing vital support for school transportation.

“I am also pleased to donate another 75-seater bus to John Landa Nkomo School in Tsholotsho. This is a school built from the passion for education by the former Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde John Landa Nkomo. This donation is a fulfilment of his wishes drawn from the many conversations we shared about the importance of providing educational opportunities to children, particularly from his rural origin in tsholotsho. I will always ensure that his vision and legacy in supporting education continues to be honoured and preserved to the best of my abilities,” said Chivayo.

This generous outpouring of gifts highlights Chivayo’s commitment to uplifting various sectors in Zimbabwe while celebrating his personal milestone.

“This special occasion of my birthday constantly reminds me that the true bedrock of our society and the soul of our beloved nation are the mothers and women whose sacrifices shape our destiny. From my late beloved mother whose love still guides my steps from heaven, to the mothers who have embraced and supported me, prayed for me, and stood with me in every chapter of my journey,

“I honour you all today. i bow my head in deep gratitude to every woman who has touched my life and to the countless mothers across Zimbabwe who continue to nurture and uplift this great nation with their courage and unconditional love,” he said.
