DELTA Corporation has called on the City of Bulawayo to prioritise reliable water provision for both industry and residents, saying sustainable water supply is essential for the success of major industrial investments in the city.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the company’s new US$35 million brewhouse in Belmont, Delta Corporation board chairperson, Mr Todd Moyo, said the investment’s full potential could only be realised through consistent municipal service delivery, particularly in water and electricity supply.
“We call upon the Bulawayo City Council to continue prioritising water provision for industry and the community,” said Mr Moyo.
He commended the ongoing collaboration between Delta and the local authority on equipping boreholes at the Nyamandlovu aquifers, which he described as “vital for Bulawayo’s water security”.
“We are hopeful that the Shangani Dam project will alleviate water challenges. These initiatives are critical not only for Delta’s operations but for the sustainable growth of Bulawayo and the region,” said Mr Moyo.
He also appealed to the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) to give priority to industrial zones and work closely with both the city council and the private sector to ensure reliable power supply.
Mr Moyo said the company’s latest investment was a strong vote of confidence in Bulawayo’s re-industrialisation drive and would create employment opportunities while boosting local value chains.
