A blaze broke out at the renowned Midlands Hotel in Gweru, with an upper apartment heavily damaged by flames.
Fortunately, the Gweru Fire Brigade responded promptly and worked diligently to bring the fire under control.
Hotel proprietor, Mr Hamutendi Kombayi, confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, there was a fire. That’s life. We’ll wait to determine the cause.”

The Midlands Hotel was built in the year 1927 by the Meikle brothers and is one of the oldest hotels in Gweru.
