WATCH: Ingutsheni donations start paying off

The donations made towards the rehabilitation of Ingutsheni Central Hospital in Bulawayo have started paying off as the institution has drilled and equipped two solarised boreholes at the institution.

Over US$2.1million was raised in a recent luncheon convened buy the office of Vice President Rtd Col Kembo Mohadi.

At the occasion, President Mnangagwa donated US$1Million towards the work that needs to be done at the critical institution that houses mental health patients from across the country.

The Chief Medical Officer for the institution Dr Nemache Mawere said he was pleased that rehabilitation works have commenced.

“At the recent luncheon which was held at ZITF , The President HE Cde Dr ED Munangagwa donated agricultural equipment and boreholes to boost the agricultural projects at Ingutsheni hospital. ZINWA has moved in to drill 2 boreholes to kick start the process of capacitating our agricultural production. The plan is to expand irrigation facilities at our 10 hactar plot so that we can grow crops all year round,” he said.

The agricultural projects do not only help the institution generate income, but also serve as occupational therapy for the admitted patients as they are on the road to recovery. The hopsital also housed survivors of drug and substance abuse undergoing rehabilitation.
