Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Tatenda Mavetera and her deputy Dingumuzi Phuti have left Harare accompanying Zimbabwe Bikers in a ride to Munhumutapa Day commemorations to be held in Mvurwi.
The 84 bikers are taking part in the initiative celebrating President Mnangagwa’s 84th birthday in style.
The commemorative ride was organised by Zanu PF Youth league in partnership with Sakunda Holdings, ZimSports for ED, NetOne and Young Women for ED.
The convoy of motorcycles rumbled from NetOne Herbert Chitepo branch drawing curious glances as riders in black jackets showcased their flair in the road.
The ride will end in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central Province for the Munhumutapa Day commemorations. More than 100 000 people are expected to attend the festivities.
The Munhumutapa Day which will be celebrated annually on September 15 after being proclaimed a public holiday, also coincides with President Mnangagwa’s birthday.
Minister Mavetera said there are happy to be part of a road adventure as they honour and celebrate the legacy of the First Citizen.
“We are happy to be celebrating President Mnangagwa’s birthday where l am accompanied by my deputy Honourable Dingumuzi Phuti. We are grateful for the support the initiative has received from Sakunda Holdings, ZimSports for ED, NetOne and Young Women for ED.
“Through this, on behalf of myself, my deputy, the ICT Ministry and Young Women for ED, we wish President Mnangagwa a happy birthday. May he continue leading the country to prosperity,” said Minister Mavetera.
Netone Acting Head Public Relations manager Ernest Magadzire said the state telecommunications service provider also wishes President Mnangagwa a happy birthday.
“The day reflects on the country’s rich history, heritage and achievements of the Mutapa civilisation which before independence, was being deliberately played down by the settler regime.
“As NetOne, we are pleased to be part of this historic moment and we wish President Mnangagwa a happy birthday,” said Magadzire.
