Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube has urged creatives to come together and share ideas on how best they can transform the local creative sector into a profitable industry.

Minister Ncube made the remarks while welcoming local arts practitioners, creatives and other stakeholders attending the Creative Economy Conference at Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) Hall 2 in Bulawayo.

The conference is being held as part of the KUZANA SCEEZ exhibition and is being attended by Vice-President Kembo Mohadi, who is the guest of honour, Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Anselem Sanyatwe and other Government officials.

Ncube said the conference provided an opportunity for creatives to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal of developing a viable and profitable creative industry in line with the country’s Vision 2030 aspirations.

She applauded creatives for playing a leading role in preserving Zimbabwe’s history, culture and heritage, saying their work was critical in promoting the country’s identity through various artistic productions.

“The Creative Economy Conference must be used to unite us as we put aside our differences and focus on one goal, which is to make our local arts industry profitable in line with the country’s Vision 2030,” she said.

The conference has brought together leading voices from Zimbabwe’s creative ecosystem to explore the growing role of creative industries in national development.

Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of sectors, including music, film and television, fashion, publishing, visual and performing arts, digital content, intellectual property, cultural heritage, investment and the commercialisation of creative talent.

The conference is also expected to facilitate partnerships and generate practical interventions aimed at strengthening Zimbabwe’s creative industries.

KUZANA SCEEZ is being hosted by the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture under the theme: “KUZANA: Towards Vision 2030 through Sport and Creative Industries.”
