OVER the weekend, South African rap sensation Nasty C brought an electrifying energy to Longchen Plaza in Harare as he performed his new single, “Psychic” for the first time live. The event, part of the “Road to Ivyson Tour”, was a much-anticipated showcase for fans who have been clamouring for the rapper to bring his Ivyson Tour to cities like Bulawayo.

Fresh off the release of “Psychic”, which marks a bold new chapter in his career under his independent label, Tall Racks Records, Nasty C delivered a confident, flex-heavy anthem that resonated deeply with the crowd. The song, self-produced and filled with sharp lyricism, reflects his evolution from chart-topping artist to a full-fledged music executive who takes creative control of his artistry.

Opening with a gritty bassline and captivating trumpet elements, “Psychic” sets the tone for an energetic performance. Nasty C’s warm and velvety vocals shine as he navigates through themes of perseverance, challenges, and self-belief.

“Life won’t hand you anything on a silver platter. You’ve got to put yourself out there, trust your vision, and build the right support system,” he expressed during the show, embodying the core message of his latest track.

Even though the single had just dropped the day before, the Harare audience sang along word for word, showcasing the artiste’s undeniable connection with his fans. This free show featured an impressive line-up of local talent, including Holy 10, Bagga, KikkyBadass, King 98, Probeatz, and Kayflow, with South Africa’s MashBeatz also making an appearance.

The “Road to Ivyson Tour” is not just a series of performances; it’s a unique initiative that allows fans across Africa to request Nasty C and his tour to their city through the fan-driven platform TOORLY.

This innovative approach means that the more requests a city receives, the higher its chances of securing a show. The excitement has sparked a grassroots movement, with fans rallying for their cities to be included in the tour, and it’s clear that Bulawayo is eager for its chance to host the rapper. – Follow on X @MbuleloMpofu
