THANDAZANI Ndhlovu underlined his growing reputation as one of Bulawayo’s leading sprinters when he stormed to victory in the 200m as the White City Stars Athletics Track and Field Championships got under way on Saturday.
Ndhlovu, who was part of the Zimbabwe 4x400m relay team that set a national record and qualified for the 2027 World Championships, won the race in 21.15 seconds with an effortless-looking run.
The Fastlane Crew sprinter is leading a team of eight athletes at the championships, which have attracted several clubs and athletes from across the city.
Ndhlovu has enjoyed an impressive season, setting a national record in the 300m before helping Zimbabwe’s 4x400m relay team secure qualification for the 2027 World Championships.
His performances have been part of a strong year for Bulawayo athletics, with Methembe Tshuma also featuring prominently.
Tshuma was part of Zimbabwe’s 4x100m mixed relay team, with both he and Ndhlovu representing the country at the African Senior Championships in Ghana.
The White City meeting provides another opportunity for local athletes to test themselves against some of the country’s leading competitors as they continue preparations for major competitions.
