FOLLOWING a more than 100 percent increase in fees at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) from US$320 to US$720 depending with the faculty, students today staged a protest while their representatives engaged authorities.

Anti-riot police manned the school gate blocking students.

The SRC president Muziwenkosi Sigidi announced to the students in a video that is circulating on social media that they have won, after the meeting.

“We have won. The draconian fees have been reduced. We would love to thank you all who stood in solidarity with those who stood with us in the stay away,” he said without giving specifics.
