WATCH: Performing koDakamela excites Skhosana

Award-winning Tshibilika and folklore musician Skhosana Buhlungu was a man full of excitement after he was given a chance to perform at the chief Dakamela Achievers Awards held at Nkayi, Matabeleland North on 5 and 6 April.

The Achievers Awards (Imiklomela koDakamela) are a community-driven initiative designed to recognise, acknowledge and motivate individuals and organisations who were able to contribute significantly to the advancement of human development through their respective fields.

The event attracted thousands of people from different walks of walk of life including chiefs, traditional leaders, politicians and socialites.

Notable people who graced the event are Bulelani and Zwide Khumalo, Chiefs Mathema, Menyezwa, Stauze, Mathe and Fuyane, as well as Kingdom Blue founder Brilliant Ncube, Albert Nyathi, Phathisa Nyathi amongst others.

Artistes who performed alongside Skhosana are Khaya Arts, Imvelo, Dakamela primary school Isitshikitsha group, Albert Nyathi, Obert Dube and other local artistes.

Speaking after his performance, Skhosana Buhlungu said he was excited to have been given a platform to perform in front of his own people and show them how he has matured as an artiste.

“What the chief (Dakamela) has done to bring people together and unite them through this event must be applauded because he hosted people from different walks of life.

“I performed on both days of the event and I am grateful to the chief for giving me such a platform to shine in front of the people who made me who I am. It was indeed an honour to have been one of performers at the event,” said Skhosana Buhlungu.
