WATCH: “Too soon?” – Fans slam Madam Boss for dancing days after brother’s burial

Social media personality Madam Boss is in Bulawayo for the Ekhaya Worship Festival, but her appearance in a jovial mood at a flash mob performance for the event, has sparked mixed reactions online.

The popular entertainer, real name Tyra Chikocho, shared a video of herself dancing alongside show host, gospel musician Everton Mlalazi and his wife — but instead of applause, some followers questioned whether it was appropriate for her to be “celebrating” so soon after a family loss.

Just four days ago, Madam Boss laid her beloved brother, Lovemore Chikocho, affectionately known as Sekuru Gudo, to rest. Some fans flooded the comments section of her video, asking why she wasn’t still mourning.

Never one to shy away from addressing controversy, Madam Boss hit back with a deeply emotional video showing her late brother spending time with her daughter, Malia — footage she revealed was taken the day he passed away.

“I can see you guys mukuda kuti ndirambe ndichichema Hantie, yet I’m trying to be strong and keep myself busy. Now let’s cry together,” she wrote, adding, “This is the day when my brother died, ndakaswera ndichitamba naye not knowing kwakutooneka. Akaswera achindi varaidza the whole day ndisina kana kugeza, kana kubuda. Was just feeling tired.”

She closed off with a gut-wrenching message: “Now I pray that you won’t go through the pain I’m going through right now. Good night. Love you all.”

Her emotional response has since sparked a broader conversation online: How long should one mourn? And how should they mourn? For Madam Boss, being around people and celebrating life appears to be her way of healing.
