AHEAD of their second consecutive city derby, Chicken Inn FC coach, Prince Matore, who beat Highlanders FC 2-0 last week has predicted a tough encounter against Bulawayo Chiefs.
The tie, dubbed the Battle for Luveve Stadium is expected to be a humdinger.
Last weekend, Gamecocks thumped Highlanders 0-2 in an exciting clash that saw Brian Muza and Michael Charamba grab the all-important goals for the Simbisa Brands bankrolled side.
“It’s another derby match against a club that has not been doing well. But we will not focus on how Bulawayo Chiefs have been playing.
“We need to concentrate more on how we want to play. It’s a battle for Luveve, we all need bragging rights there because we train at the same Luveve facilities with Bulawayo Chiefs. The boys know each other very well, they usually joke and eat together so it’s going to be a difficult match,” said Matore.
Amakhosi Amahle are coming from a one all draw against the league’s defending champions FC
Platinum. For their game against fifth placed Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs will be without the services of their chief striker Obriel Chirinda.
The pacy and skillful forward is suspended after picking three yellow cards.
On the other hand, Gamecocks are likely to miss Shepherd Mhlanga, Richard Hachiro and striker Malvin Hwata in their starting line-up amid revelations by Matore that they are all in the treatment room.
In their last five games Chicken Inn have posted three wins, one draw and a single defeat.
They have 35 points, six behind log leaders Highlanders.
Bulawayo Chiefs, who have proved to be struggling to collect maximum points under the mentorship of Johanisi Nhumwa have posted three defeats and two stalemates.
Gamecocks and Chiefs are separated by 10 points.
In other matches set for tomorrow, FC Platinum will do duty against Caps United at Zvishavane’s Mandava Stadium. Ngezi Platinum Stars will have a date with Manica Diamonds at Baobab Stadium. Greenfuel will welcome Sheasham at their Chisumbanje base which recently got the greenlight to start hosting Premier Soccer League matches.
ZPC Kariba will lock horns with Herentals at Nyamhunga Stadium. Army side Black Rhinos will hope to utilise home advantage when they square it off against Triangle United at Gweru’s Bata Stadium.
On Sunday, there will be the much-awaited blockbuster tie between Highlanders and Dynamos that will be played at Barbourfields Stadium. Hwange face Simba Bhora and Yadah Stars will be home to Cranborne Bullets. — @FungaiMuderere
