INTERNATIONAL Women Development Trust (IWDT) is set to make noise in Bulawayo this Saturday as it rolls out its IWDT Product Unveiling and Women’s Business Pitch Day, marking seven solid years of empowering women and girls from disadvantaged communities.
The milestone event will be held at a Church in the city centre and promises a morning packed with inspiration, hustle and hope as women take centre stage to pitch business ideas and showcase newly acquired skills.

Founded in Gweru in 2019, IWDT has already equipped more than 500 women and girls with practical skills aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty. The organisation focuses on hands on training in baking, tailoring, cosmetology, business management and other income generating trades that allow beneficiaries to start and sustain their own businesses.

“IWDT’s formation was motivated by the urgent need to address the challenges facing women and girls in Zimbabwe,” said IWDT founder and co-ordinator Ms Eugenia Masimba.

“We’re excited to support women in Bulawayo as they take the first step towards entrepreneurship,” she said.
The Bulawayo launch is expected to draw women from different backgrounds, all eager to learn, connect and grow. The programme will feature guest speakers, live business pitches and exhibitions of products made through IWDT training programmes.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to register for upcoming courses and network with fellow entrepreneurs and mentors.
“IWDT is set to empower Bulawayo women with business skills at its upcoming launch event,” reads a statement.
“The event is expected to bring together women from various backgrounds, providing a platform for them to showcase their talents and ideas.”

Looking ahead, IWDT aims to expand its training programmes, reach more communities and build stronger partnerships to increase its impact. While challenges such as limited funding and resource constraints persist, the trust says its commitment to women empowerment remains unshaken.
As Bulawayo women gather to pitch, learn and dream big, IWDT’s message is loud and clear. When women are equipped with skills, they do not just survive. They build businesses, families and futures.
