ZANU-PF yesterday distributed 30 tonnes of maize meal to the community of Vumbachikwe Mine in Gwanda after it was affected by the closure of the mine.
Gwanda North aspiring Member for Parliament, Cde Lungisani Coster “Two Minutes” Ncube handed over the maize to community members yesterday.
Each person received a 10kg bag of mealie-meal. The community is set to receive another consignment next month as the ruling party continues to make significant strides in addressing the needs of people.
Speaking after receiving a bag of mealie-meal, Mr Million Dube said a huge burden has been lifted off his shoulders.
“I have been struggling to make ends meet and to fend for my family ever since the mine closed. I’m glad and relieved as today I will eat with my family. We have been promised that we will get more assistance in the coming months and this has brought huge relief to me,” he said.
“I’m glad that we have a listening President and may he continue in office as we need a leader who is concerned with our welfare.”
Ms Lucy Nyathi said receiving mealie meal has brought huge relief to her and her family. She expressed gratitude towards President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF.
She said the party was assured of her vote for walking the talk.
Cde Ncube said the donation is a clear indication of President Mnangagwa’s commitment to the welfare of people.
“I engaged you as the community of Vumbachikwe and you told me your grievances. You told me that you have been struggling to make ends meet ever since the mine was closed,” he said.
“I then talked to President Mnangagwa and told him about your plight. That’s why I have come here today with mealie meal. This isn’t the last time that you will receive such assistance.”
He said intervention is an indication that President Mnangagwa is a listening leader.
“Our leader, President Mnangagwa delivers on his promise. He said he will leave no one and no place behind in terms of development and indeed Vumbachikwe hasn’t been left behind,” said Cde Ncube.
He said he is yet to roll out more development projects that will leave the community self-sustainable and empowered.
“On 23 August make sure that you vote for President Mnangagwa, then make sure you vote for me to be your MP and Cde Simbarashe Lisimati Mlilo as the councillor. This way development will be implemented smoothly in your area,” said Cde Ncube.
Speaking during the same event, Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Abedinico Ncube said the revolutionary party has confidence in its candidates.
He urged the electorate to rally behind Zanu-PF. Minister Ncube said the revolutionary party under the leadership of President Mnangagwa has proven that it is able to bring about the necessary development that will lead to the attainment of Vision 2030.
Zanu-PF Central Committee Member, Cde Trynos Nkomo urged the entire community of Gwanda to vote for Zanu-PF, saying it’s a tried and tested party. — @DubeMatutu.
