Kadoma residents have raised concern over reports that council has been supplying dirty water to some parts of the city since Friday last week.
Some of the residents affected reside in the Maternity area, Leonard Avenue, Manda Street, Chisanga Street and Braiding in Rimuka Suburb.
Dirty water could be contaminated, causing water borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery.
According to Mr Dennis Makani, the problem started on Friday in Rimuka, a section popularly known as three and four rooms, around Maternity area.
“The water that was coming out appeared clean, but it was smelling of sewage, but in other areas it was so dirty that you could see some particles,” he said.
“The water had black particles similar to those that pop up during a sewage spillage.”
Another resident, only identified as Mrs Jumo lambasted council over the dirty water.
“I was dismayed to see black particles coming out of the tap water and our lives could be in danger,” she said. “This situation is intolerable and council should act urgently because people have lost their lives in Gweru over a similar case.”
At least five people have been reported dead due to typhoid in Gweru.
Kadoma Residents Association chairperson Mr Wikirosi Mutizira also had no kind words for the council for having misplaced its priorities.
