The association has set up safety procedures which are followed by member companies to ensure safety of tourists.

“We are now back on the river after a short layoff. Some seasons we break even for two to three months depending on the water levels but this time around, because of low rainfall in the region, the water levels fell quickly,” he said.

Mr Ncube, however, said they were starting from rapid number 14 to rapid number 24 for a couple of weeks before they start from rapid one.

“We are talking of a distance of about 10km of rafting that is from rapid 14 to rapid 24 for the next few weeks after which we will start the high water flips from rapid one,” he said.

Zambezi River has class five rapids making it the best in the world as compared to other small rivers and is popular with tourists from all over the world.
