We are not a coaches’ hunting ground: Hara

CHICKEN Inn secretary-general Tavengwa Hara says they are not pressing the panic button despite the poor start to the season.

The 12 points collected in 12 games summarises the Gamecocks’ position, a pale shadow of a club which once won the title and was always favourite to be among the top four.

And despite the drama surrounding their last match against Scottland, which was abandoned, reality is they were again far from collecting full points.

Yet Hara insists making technical team changes is not on their table, but rather strengthening the team during the window.

“It’s always interesting to get news that some people want to jump into our train. Yes, we have had a slow start into the season, but were not pressing any panic buttons,” said Hara.

He added: “We are not recruiting; we are not a coaches’ hunting ground. We will stand guided by our principles and as such, we will keep on working hard and believing.”

Their Friday clash with Scottland was abandoned after late drama that saw the home team being awarded a penalty at the death.

The penalty kick was not taken and PSL have since requested for reports from parties involved, with the final decision set to come from the league’s disciplinary committee.

This is coming at a time when the Gamecocks were already struggling for results.

So bad is their home record that head coach Joey Antipas revealed last weekend that in search of better fortune, they are considering a switch from Luveve to Barbourfields Stadium.

The Gamecocks, who recently reassigned their assistant coach, Fungai “Tostao” Kwashi, to lead the club’s Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two side, are yet to register a win at home.

Kwashi, who joined the Gamecocks’ senior technical set up early last year from CAPS United following the departure of Prince Matore, wasn’t on the bench during the team’s recent loss to Green Fuel.

Chicken Inn wins have both come on the road, against Dynamos and Kwekwe United.
