SCOTTLAND have the best defence in the domestic Premiership and it could play a big role in deciding the fate of the club in the CAF Champions League.
They face Nsingizini Hotspurs in a preliminary round second leg at Somhlolo tomorrow.
The Zimbabwean champions arrived in Eswatini yesterday afternoon, after spending three days in Johannesburg, at a training camp.
The Scotts go into battle carrying a slender 1-0 win and, if they don’t concede a goal, they will go through to the next round.
Even if they concede two goals and they, at least, score one goal, then they are through on the away goals rule.
Protecting their goal is something they have been doing well in the championship race where they have conceded just TEN goals.
The second best defensive team, Hardrock, have conceded NINETEEN goals.
But, while they also need to prevent their hosts from scoring, a single goal could be decisive for the Scotts.
Cameroonian striker, Neville Tengeg, scored the decisive goal after being set up by Emmanuel Jalai.
Midfielder Moses Shidolo believes everything is on course for the Scotts.
“So far so good, the camp has been good.
“Everything is going well, it’s positive energy, positive vibes,” he told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
The Namibian midfielder has been one of the outstanding players at the Zimbabwean champions.
His partnership with Abubakar Moffat at the base of the midfield, stifled Nsingizini in Harare last weekend.
Shidolo feels tomorrow’s game could be decided mentally and physically.
“To be honest, I think it’s about mentality and we are fully prepared physically and mentally.
“As a team we are ready.”
In a move aimed at ensuring maximum focus, while also helping the players acclimatise to the kind of weather and playing conditions they are likely to encounter in Eswatini, Scottland flew to Johannesburg on Monday evening.
Hundreds of supporters are also expected to travel to Eswatini.
Shidolo has urged those who will remain in Zimbabwe to pray for Scottland.
Club owner Scott Sakupwanya has arranged, at least 10 buses, for fans willing to travel and cheer for the Zimbabwean champions.
“To the fans I want them to keep the positive mindsets for us.
“They have been fully behind us and they should keep up the spirit.
“Support us from home big time and just keep us in your prayers.
“We will do the job for you guys and the badge,” Shidolo said.
