MANICA Diamonds chairman Masimba Chihowa says as a club they will not engage in bidding wars for players.
He emphasized that they will only recruit players with reasonable demands.
During the local transfer-window some of the Castle Lager Premier League teams always become tempted to break the bank all in an effort to strengthen their squads and win trophies.
Better known as the Gem Boys, Manica Diamonds together with FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum and Simba Bhora are some of the local clubs that many local football fans have been made to believe usually part with colossal sums of cash to lure a talented arsenal.
“No that’s not the case with us. We don’t go for monetary grabbing of players like other clubs.
“We always desist from the madness. It’s not associated with us. It’s not part of our culture. Player bidding is not good, we recruit players that come with ordinary monetary demands,” said Chihowa emphasizing that they do business the ‘gem way.’

Chihowa was responding to a rumour that has gone full cycle suggesting they have joined the bidding war for former Warriors star Khama Billiat who is reported to be on his way to joining Dynamos together with Kudakwashe Mahachi.
DeMbare have reportedly laid a bold marker on their 2024 ambitions after luring Mahachi and Billiat who are expected to sign for them soon.
Billiat has been without a team since June last year when his deal with South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs expired.
He refused to sign for another contract offered to him by Amakhosi as it had substantial reductions in wages.
The former Warriors poster boy has failed to attract interest from other clubs in the neighbouring country despite reported considerations by SuperSport, Cape Town City and Richards Bay.
His ex-Warriors teammate Mahachi, who also made a huge impression plying his trade for Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport in South Africa is reportedly also keen to join Dynamos.
He was recently released by Ghana Premiership side Medeama just five months into his 12-month contract and he is already back in the country.
With his former club Chicken Inn shutting the door on his face, the winger is understood to be in contact with key Dynamos officials who have okayed negotiations between him and the team.
Mahachi is said to have principally agreed to get the same salary that highest earners at the team are taking home.
