NEWLY appointed Warriors coach Mario Marinica believes Zimbabwe have the quality to do well at major competitions.
Marinica has met the players for the first time in Saudi Arabia ahead of international friendly matches against Algeria and Qatar.
“I knew about them, but I had not worked with them. I was impressed by them, we have the quality,” said Marinica.
And he also spoke about tactics.

“What I actually want from them, is for them to be more direct. Not too many negative play, rather than to threaten the opponents goal. That’s the major weakness.”
The Warriors coach said that negative play contributed to the team’s downfall in the past matches.

The Warriors finished the World Cup qualifiers without a single win, and bottom of group C of the qualifiers.
As a result Michael Nees, who joined the campaign midway, was shown the door.
