SMALL to Medium Enterprises in Manicaland have pleaded for financial assistance to grow their businesses and enable them to be more competitive.

The who attended the Diamond FM Go Green business expo in Mutare last week said they were keen to create linkages with corporates and established businesses to widen their market share.

“We are still small businesses but for us to grow, we need more financial assistance to improve our operations so that our products can attract foreign markets. We intend to improve the designs and quality, but that requires more finances which we do not have,” said Mr Tendai Ntini, a local welder.

The Go Green initiative, which started last year, is a platform meant for SMEs to exhibit their products and skills as well as create synergies with other businesses and clients.

“We appreciate the effort to help us market ourselves out there, and we need more platforms like this to be able to interact with big players in the industry and grow our markets,” said Mr Steven Karume, a local tyre mender.

Companies that attended the expo and interacted with the SMEs included Cimas, MetBank, Kwese Iflix, MicroPlan, AnzaEquip Earth   Movers.
