WE NEED THE MONEY, SAYS BEEFY

APART from his interesting nuggets which always spice up contests, Philani “Beefy” Ncube also invokes fierce competition in the local top-flight league.

Ncube took over the reigns at Premier Soccer League newcomers Arenel Movers on July 23, replacing Farai Tawachera, and the firebrand coach is yet to taste defeat.

He has been in charge of three league matches and has picked seven points out of a possible 12.

Ncube has two wins against Herentals and CAPS United plus last weekend’s away draw against Bikita Minerals.

The former Harare City gaffer is now shifting his attention to the Chibuku Super Cup, which begins this afternoon with a preliminary double header at Mandava.

Arenel Movers play TelOne at noon before Hwange square up against Chegutu Pirates at 3pm.

The preliminary round involves teams that were in the bottom four at the halfway stage of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

“We need to boost our coffers by progressing in the Chibuku Super Cup,” Ncube told Zimpapers Sport.

Winners of the Chibuku Super Cup will not only earn a ticket to represent Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup but will also pocket US$75 000.

“We will fight till the last drop of blood. We will throw everything at TelOne but we are aware it will not be an easy match.

“It’s a 50-50 contest, it’s anybody’s game,” said Ncube.

Ncube won the 2017 title with Harare City but failed to save the Sunshine Boys from relegation.

Ncube’s Arenel Movers are swimming in the murky waters of relegation but the damage was done before his arrival.
