Monday

The US$294 million Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project, designed to secure critical and strategic hydropower infrastructure, is now approximately 94 percent complete, the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) has said. In an update, ZRA said rehabilitation work remains on course for completion by year-end.

Tuesday

The Second Republic’s strategic initiative to establish a gold-backed foundation for the economy is producing substantial outcomes, President Mnangagwa has said.

He made the remarks on Monday after visiting the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) headquarters in Harare to inspect the amount of gold reserves the country presently holds.

Wednesday

The Government has unveiled sweeping regulatory reforms, slashing fees, licences and compliance costs across key sectors in a bold push to stimulate investment, industrial growth and job creation under Vision 2030.

The move is part of President Mnangagwa’s directive for comprehensive ease of doing business reforms targeting critical sectors to enhance economic growth.

Thursday

Zimbabwe’s mining sector recorded a strong first-quarter performance, raking in US$983,85 million from mineral sales, with lithium and platinum group metals (PGMs) emerging as the top performers following the Government’s bold decision to ban exports of unbeneficiated minerals. 

The policy intervention, enacted on February 25, accelerated value addition and beneficiation across the mining sector, helping push total mineral sales to 1 288 761 tonnes, valued at US$983,85 million, in the first quarter.

Friday

President Mnangagwa has appointed Constitutional Court judge Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza as the country’s new Chief Justice.  She succeeds Chief Justice Luke Malaba, whose tenure ended on Thursday after 45 years on the bench.
