‘We’ll sell our diamonds’

Briefing party leadership in his constituency on developments in Government and Zimbabwe at Mtao Shopping Centre, Minister Mnangagwa said the use of the country’s mineral resources, among them diamonds, would remain a preserve of the Government.
“The KPCS is a voluntary organisation and does not own Zimbabwean diamonds. Those minerals are for Zimbabwe and its people. These are the people who have a say in their marketing.

“Where in this land do you seek permission to kill your cow from a neighbour? So why do we need the approval of enemies on when to sell our diamonds?” he said.
Minister Mnangagwa said: “Our young people should thus grow knowing that these resources are theirs. They have a duty to guard this country jealously against its enemies. You should be proud as black people as whites are proud to be what they are.

“Those before you brought the country’s independence through sweat and blood but your turn is now simple as your only have to guard it by voting overwhelmingly for the Zanu-PF.”
He said Zimbabwe had reached a point where it would not entertain efforts to derail or slacken the pace of the indeginisation programme further.
He said Zimbabweans needed to start enjoying benefits of the country’s minerals.
“Their sanctions will not deter us from empowering our people. We will not compromise on this goal, sanctions or no sanctions, drought or rain, hunger or in years of plenty. We will defend the ideals of Zimbabwe’s liberation.

He thanked Zanu-PF supporters in Masvingo province for speaking emphatically during the constitutional hearings that there will be no reverse on the land redistribution, that Zimbabwe continues to have an executive presidency, indeginisation of the country’s resources and that it continues to hold harmonised elections after every five years.
“You spoke and it was head that Zimbabwe shall remain with a unitary Government with one flag. Of the 6 648 Copac meetings held, 6 200 went to Zanu-PF.

“Following the outcome of the constitutional outreach programme our colleagues in the inclusive Government no longer want to go for elections,” he said.
On security sector reform, Cde Mnangangwa said: “If you want to test me speak about the change of generals, and removal of war veterans form the security sector. I will not let our security forces be lead by puppets of the West, never!”
