Wenger miscalculates

LONDON — It seems as though the pressure of being Arsenal manager is taking its toll on Arsene Wenger. With constant cries to see him leave from sections of the Emirates faithful (Piers Morgan mainly) and little transfer budget to work with, it must be tough.

So tough, that the Frenchman appears to believe that there are 21 teams in the English Premier League.

After beating the MLS All Stars 2-1 in a pre-season friendly on Thursday, Wenger was asked what his hopes and expectations were for the season ahead.

After giving a fairly flaky answer, he said: “We know what we have to do because we were second last year, had 18 teams behind us.”

Yes, yes, that’s right.

“*Stutters* 19 teams behind us.”

NOOOO. So close.

He corrected himself . . . with incorrect information. — The Mirror.
