WEST Indies wrapped up the women’s T201 series against Zimbabwe with an eight-wicket victory after chasing down a modest target of 107 in just 9.1 overs.

After winning the toss and electing to field, the visitors restricted Zimbabwe to 106 for seven from their 20 overs before making light work of the chase.

Zimbabwe struggled to build momentum despite a 46-run second-wicket partnership between Beloved Biza and Kelis Ndlovu.

Ndlovu scored 25 from 28 balls, including two fours and a six, while Biza anchored the innings with 35 off 35 balls, striking three fours.

Biza was dismissed in the 12th over, caught by Mandy Mangru off Jahzara Claxton, with Claxton also removing Christine Mutasa for a duck from the next delivery to leave Zimbabwe 78 for three.

Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano added 25 from 28 balls before being run out by Realeanna Grimmond, while Nyasha Gwanzura contributed eight before falling to Stafanie Taylor.

Zimbabwe captain Josephine Nkomo was dismissed off the final ball of the innings for one, caught by Afy Fletcher off Claxton, who finished with three wickets.

Modester Mupachikwa remained unbeaten on seven from eight balls as Zimbabwe closed on 106 for seven.

West Indies needed little time to overhaul the target, with opening batter Eboni Brathwaite producing a blistering 57 from just 23 balls.

Brathwaite struck three fours and six sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 247.82, putting the chase firmly beyond Zimbabwe’s reach.

Jahzara Claxton made four before being bowled by Kudzai Chigora, but Realeanna Grimmond continued the assault with an unbeaten 23 from 16 balls.

Stafanie Taylor added an unbeaten nine from nine balls as West Indies reached 108 for two in 9.1 overs to seal an emphatic eight-wicket victory and take the series.
