PHENOMENAL songbird Edith Katiji aka WeuTonga has made a late entry into the line-up taking part in the much-hyped Acoustic Night session slated for the exquisite Private Lounge this evening.
Weutonga could not hide her elation after being afforded an opportunity to exchange notes with fellow entertainers of her generation.
Sounds of Motherland boss Progress Chipfumo, Kireni Zulu as well as Tendai Manatsa and his wife Selmor Mtukudzi will also perform at the event.
Red-hot chanter Jah Prayzah and Tariro “neGitare” Ruzvizvo have been invited as guest artistes. While the event parades a star-studded line-up, the talented bassist is likely to steal the show owing to her creative edge that has seen her winning hearts of many wherever she plays.
Speaking ahead of this particular gig, WeUtonga said: “It’s really nice to be recognised by events managers and I can’t afford to disappoint at this particular show. When I was contacted by the event organiser, I just accepted the offer and on Thursday (tonight) I just want to return the favour with a flawless act.
“I am very particular with Acoustic sessions and I know the demands of these shows and I can’t afford to disappoint my fans. Like any other artiste, I am ever ready for this show.
“For your own information, when I was invited, I was busy doing rehearsals and I feel my efforts did not go to waste.”
She added: “I am looking forward to the event and it feels good to mix and mingle with fellow artistes. This will be my first time playing at the joint and I do promise the best.
“I urge fans to show up in numbers for a real treat. I also have special compositions for them and we are certainly going to deliver our best.”
Fellow artistes Chipfumo, Kireni and Sulu said they were ready for the event and vowed to usher out all their artistic verve.
