SIX armed robbers, who stole a car and cash from a businesswoman, told her that they had allegedly been sent by her former husband to rob her.

They claimed this was a punishment for ending their marriage.

The businesswoman, Philippa Miti, runs Mutasa Service Centre and is the owner of Pinkrose Junior School.

She lost her Toyota Hiace vehicle, US$2,000 cash and cellphones to the six robbers.

Efforts to get confirmation and comment from the National Police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, were in vain.

However, H-Metro has it on good authority that Phillipa lost her property when her house was besieged by the armed robbers.

“On May 21, 2026, at around 7.20pm, six unknown male robbers, who were wearing face masks, gained entrance into Ms Miti’s house through the door, which was not locked and produced a black pistol and okapi knives and threatened her and her son to surrender their belongings.

“The robbers informed Miti that they were sent by her ex-husband, Joseph Miti, who resides in Dorowa area, since she had spearheaded their separation.

“Ms Miti surrendered to the robbers approximately US$2,000 cash which she had in her house.

“The robbers also took Ms Miti’s Samsung Galaxy A04 and other three Samsung cellphones models before demanding car keys.

“They were given keys in respect of the Toyota Hiace registration number AGY 8760.

“The robbers then left the house and drove away with the complainant’s vehicle,” said the source. The vehicle was later found dumped in Rusape two days later with the cellphones inside the car.

The cash was not recovered and police are appealing for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

“On May 23 2026, the stolen Toyota Hiace was recovered in Rusape by police detectives abandoned near Anglican Church with keys on the ignition.

“The motor vehicle was searched and a Baofeng radio, one Samsung MI15, one Samsung A15 and one Itel A37 cellphones were recovered.

“Ms Miti positively identified the motor vehicle, radio and cellphones as hers, which were stolen by means of robbery.

“The value of the property stolen is US$21,260 and US$18,970 was recovered.”
