PRISONS and Correctional Services side, Whawha maintained their fine run in the Zifa Central Soccer League by edging MSU 2–1 to open a four-point lead.

Second-placed Tongogara failed to sustain the pressure on Whawha after being held to a goalless draw by ZPC Munyati, who are also  favourites in the title race.

Nichrut of Shurugwi are yet to collect maximum points in the second part of the season and stuttered to draw 1-1 against Blanket Mine.

Tongogara coach, Kelvin Maphosa, believes it’s still early to talk about the title at this stage of the season.

“I will only be able to comment about the championship during the home stretch.

” As it stands it is still everyone’s game as the top six clubs still have an equal chance of getting promoted. I am happy where we are at this stage and our aim is to remain consistent,” said Maphosa.

ZPC Munyati coach, Isaac Nyabvure, was also happy after getting a point against the army side.

“The pressure is on Tongogara and for us getting a point is not a bad result after all. We want to build on this result going forward and we hope to finish the season on a strong note,” he said.

Elsewhere, Ivan Hoe failed to impress after being held to a 2–2 draw by Silo United, denting their championship charge.
