A RISING star from Bulawayo, who attained 20 points in science subjects at A-level is appealing for assistance to further his studies.

Artmore Thandolwakhe Nkomo, of Cowdray Park suburb who did his A-level at Luveve High School in Bulawayo and attained 20 points in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science last year is seeking financial assistance to enrol at the National University of Science and Technology, (Nust) to study Electronic Engineering.

“I am appealing for assistance to pay fees for my tertiary education because my parents are not able to cover the university requirements as my father who is the breadwinner is now a pensioner. I benefited from the STEM programme but now I can’t afford university fees.

“Actually life was always hard. When I was in Form One I remember my parents for the whole year only managed to pay less than half of my first term’s fees and my siblings were also in arrears. Even up to O-level we struggled with payment because not once did I ever pay my fees on time. But the situation at home always propelled me forward because it is not a laughing matter,” he said.

Nkomo said that he is planning to study Electronic Engineering to pursue his dream of contributing his skill in bettering this country.

“I love my country and have observed that we are far much behind in terms of technology. My dream of studying Electronic Engineering has been inspired by shortage of engineers. I hope to contribute my skills in developing our country to meet the international community standard,” he said.

Nkomo said those willing to assist can contact him on 0784800815.

The November 2018 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) Advanced Level results indicated a pass rate of 81,9 percent.
