Moreblessing Ncube
A 50-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man allegedly slapped his girlfriend during a fiery confrontation over her “association with prostitutes.”
Jabulani Ndebele of Hopeville appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Abednigo Ndebele and was remanded in custody to 2 September.
Prosecutor Joseph Rugara told the court that the incident occurred on 21 August around 11PM at Reigate Bar.
The State alleges that Ndebele confronted his girlfriend, Colletar Ncube, questioning why she was spending time with prostitutes. He then slapped her once on the face, sending her crashing to the ground with blood gushing from her nose.
Testifying in court, Ncube said she had been drinking at the bar with her younger sister, Pretty Dube, when Ndebele stormed in and insulted Dube, branding her a prostitute and accusing her of being a bad influence.
“Pretty tried to ignore him but he kept shouting. When I tried to calm him down, he slapped me and I fell to the floor bleeding,” Ncube told the court.
Dube rushed to help her sister before accompanying her to ZRP Queenspark to file a police report.
The case is still before the courts.
