THE National Federation of Zimbabwe Body-building and Fitness’ landmark sponsorship deal secured could bring a whole new level to the sport.
The game-changing sponsorship deal, which was announced during a colourful launch event of the 2025 Hwange Colliery Company Holdings Zim Nationals in Harare, will see any willing contestant getting free transport to and from Victoria Falls.
The Zim Nationals will be held in the resort town of Victoria Falls on November 15.
Apart from being offered transport, free accommodation will also be available to those contestants needing it.
Quiet Shangai, the NFZBBF secretary general, made the unexpected announcement.
“For those contestants that do not have the means to travel to Victoria Falls, the sponsors are providing free transport. The same applies to those that might need accommodation,” Shangai said to a deafening applause.
Those in attendance, the majority of whom were body-builders, were further pleasantly surprised when Shangai made two more unexpected announcements.
“The prize money for the men’s senior overall body-builder is now US$5 000. Furthermore, those that are going to finish in the top six in all the categories are going to get cash.”
In the past, cash prizes were only given to the top three finishers. By offering free transport and accommodation, the organisers of the event are assured of a huge turnout.
