Wicked Wednesday at Marrakech the Blue Room Shisha

SO many liquor-serving establishments across the City of Kings are now offering an array of fun alcohol-inspired activities. Since cocktails became a “thing” many bars and clubs have launched a number of alcohol-themed events and days that draw clientele to them.

Talk about cocktail Wednesdays automatically, what comes to mind are bars such as Cubana and Havana. Others have ladies-inspired gigs and events that sometimes go on until the crack of dawn.

Just recently I was looking for a nice, tranquil bar where I could enjoy a cold beverage while relaxing to some quiet, calm music. I then decided to go to an establishment that is not so far from town but has less traffic and by traffic I mean “bar rangers”.

It had been a while since I set foot in Marrakech the Blue Room Shisha which is located along 14th Avenue and Fife Street. The last time I had been there was last year, when they introduced a cocktail named Six Out prepared by the manager Valentine Ndlovu. The ambience of the place is very welcoming, very clean and the staff are quite hospitable.

I was then joined by a few friends who were also intrigued by the ornamentation of the place that also boasts of an upstairs sitting environment. While we were chatting away sipping on our adult juice, I asked if they were still serving cocktails and I was told the bar had introduced a day that encompasses both men and women.

They call it the Wicked Wednesdays, where there are two types of beverages that are special — whiskey and wine. And of course obviously the whiskey is for the lads and the wine for the lassies. There are select whiskeys and wines that are sold on the day, while patrons enjoy music and a range of games.

“There are a lot of fun activities that we host and a series of drinks that we introduce every other week. The aim is to keep our patrons smiling as well as keeping them entertained. We have our clientele at heart and strive to keep and give them what they want and need. On that note we are working on introducing personalised cocktails and will also be hosting training sessions,” she said.

Till next week, have a blissful and tipsy weekend.
