The Zimbabwe Association for Widows of National Heroes (Zawinah) yesterday congratulated President Mugabe for his victory in the July 31 harmonised election.“We would like to join the nation in congratulating President Mugabe on his re-election and inauguration following his resounding victory in the July 31 harmonised election,” said Mrs Violet Madzimbamuto, the chairperson of the association.

“We applaud Zanu-PF and the people at large for voting resoundingly and wisely. President Mugabe is a tried and tested leader whose leadership qualities are the best and equal to none.”

The historic re-election of the President, she said, was an endorsement of the work done by fallen heroes and their living counterparts in freeing the country from the shackles of colonialism.

The association also hailed the President for his unwavering commitment to preserve and perpetuate the values and gains of the country’s hard won independence.

“President Mugabe’s visionary ideas and the creation of a conducive environment conducive for the emancipation, promotion and empowerment of women have seen more women rising through the ranks in various spheres,” Mrs Madzimbamuto said.
