Appearing before Masvingo magistrate, Ms Dorothy Mwanyisa, Ndoro Chikomo (40), of 6366, Nyusa Street, Mucheke , Masvingo, who is popularly known as Madzibaba Itai, was not asked to plead to charges of contravening sections of Domestic Violence Act, (Chapter 05:16). He was remanded in custody to 16 October pending a bail application.
For the State, Ms Mukai Mutume said on Tuesday last week at about 6pm, Mrs Rosa Chikomo (39), arrived from work at the family’s matrimonial home and found her husband outside.
The court heard that Chikomo allegedly questioned what was in the plastic bag that his wife was carrying to which she responded by saying they were her panties, perfume and a cellphone that she had bought on credit from a clothing retail chain store since she had an account there.
The court heard that Chikomo was allegedly angered by his wife’s acquisition of the new items and started accusing her of infidelity. He alleged that his wife was seeing another man and she had received the new items from the boyfriend, the court heard.
The court heard that an argument ensued, resulting in Chikomo pushing his wife against the wall twice and assaulted her with clenched fists several times in the face and head.
Chikomo allegedly stopped assaulting his wife after discovering that she was now bleeding from the mouth.
Mrs Chikomo was medically examined and the medical report was brought to court as evidence.
