HIGHLANDERS midfielder Devine Mhindirira has returned to training despite the club making it public, they were considering releasing him for indiscipline.
Former chairman Johnfat Sibanda told club members at the January annual general meeting (AGM) that the club is willing to release Mhindirira who he described as “a bad apple.”
Mhindirira did not to report for duty at the start of pre-season in what was deemed to be a protest meant to push Highlanders to honour its financial obligation or to release him.
He did the same before the start of last season and had to be called for a disciplinary hearing.
The midfielder has since started doing light training as he continues to recover from a knee injury.
The big question is, will Bosso give the midfielder another chance to don the black and white jersey or will they stick to the initial decision to shut him out?
Efforts to get the club’s official position on Mhindirira failed to bear fruit as they were yet to respond to inquiries sent to them.
Mhindirira, who saw little game time at Bosso last season, has a contract that expires in June.
Last year, the 2022 season Soccer Star of the Year finalist was called for a disciplinary hearing after he missed Bosso’s first three weeks of pre-season training.
Mhindirira was charged with breaching article 5 (a) (d) (g) of his contract;
He was let off the hook because he was still owed his 2019 signing-on fee as well as the signing-on fee from 2022 when he extended his contract.
In this window, Bosso has parted ways with several players.
They lost Mbongeni Ndlovu, Brighton Manhire, Elshamar Farasi, Rahman Kutsanzira and Ray Lunga whose contracts expired in December 2023.
They released Stanley Ngala and Washington Navaya who still had running contracts.
The Bulawayo football giants have so far roped in Brian Ndlovu and Brian Mlotshwa from Adachi and Hwange respectively.
Reason Sibanda joined Bosso from Arenel Movers while Marvin Sibanda signed from United States of America’s Little Rock Rangers FC.
Mvelo Khoza was promoted to the first team from Bosso90.
In their technical team they now have Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu who will have Try Ncube and Agent Sawu as his assistants.
Daniel Khumalo was retained as goalkeepers’ coach.
Abraham Mubaiwa is still the team’s fitness trainer and just like last season, the team doctor will be Shepherd Khumalo.
Loyal Nyika and Vezigama Dlodlo were re-hired as the club’s physiotherapist and welfare manager respectively.
Mhindirira’s phone went unanswered.-@innocentskizoe
