Will Sweswe be the Sheasham panacea?

FORMER BULAWAYO Chiefs, FC Platinum and Tsholotsho FC head coach Lizwe Sweswe will on Sunday seek to prove to be what the doctor ordered for Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Sheasham FC as he aims to help them break a seven-game winless streak and goal duck.

Sweswe joined Sheasham early last week and his immediate task was to lead the Gweru based side to an away date with ZPC Kariba which ended in a nil all stalemate.

Sweswe joined his new paymaster on a two and half year contract to take over from John Nyikadzino and he will be assisted by Reuben Njavera.

Contacted for a comment, Sweswe said the game against ZPC Kariba, which was his first day on the bench at the club, handed him a good platform to assess his charges and is optimistic they will soon get rid of the football ghosts that have been haunting them in their last seven outings.

“We are still pushing hard, the boys played well in Kariba. That was my first game in charge and I got to assess the boys who gave a good account of themselves. They are slowly getting to understand how I want them to play and we will soon break that seven-game winless and goalless jinx. In that regard, we need to start to create more chances and score goals,” said Sweswe whose charges are set to entertain army side Black Rhinos at Bata Stadium on Sunday.

Sweswe took along with Heritani Masuku who was also in the Bulawayo Chiefs technical department to Gweru.

The Construction Boys also managed to lure veteran striker Kudakwashe Musharu who also joined Sheasham with the outfit also announcing the signing of Dinoleen Masukuta from ZIFA Northern Region Division One side Harare City.

Musharu (36), was released by Amakhosi Amahle two weeks ago amid revelations by the club through their social media pages that they had also since parted ways with defender William Stima, goalkeeper Hebert Rusawo, midfielders Last Jesi and Rodrick Mufudza,

Asked if he was looking forward to continuing to bring in new faces, the Sheasham boss said : “The transfer window is still open and I’m thinking of one or two players. However, I will prioritise getting a striker.” — @FungaiMuderere
