After reports that his band is shaking, musician Wallace Chirimuko aka Winky D is out to prove a point when he shares stage with Suluman Chimbetu at Airpot Lounge on Saturday. Reports suggest that the musician’s camp is on fire after some band members abandoned the band following salary disputes.
His manager Jonathan Banda said people should come and witness the act live on stage.
“I don’t want to talk about that (band problems) anymore can you please come and see it for your self,” said Banda.
He said they have managed to share stage with artists from across genres and people have loved that.
“Winky is versatile and he can share stage with different musicians across genres so people must look forward to a great show,” he said.
The musician has been arguably one of the finest dancehall musician in the country.
He has produced a number of hit songs including “Musarove Bigman” “Mafirakurewa” “MaFeelings Pamangoma” “Takaipa Takaipa,” “Messi WeReggae” and “Zvekumhanya” among others.
The musician is still to prove his mettle in the dancehall industry as he is facing stiff competition from young artistes like Soul Jah Love, Killer T, Shinsoman and Toky Vibes who have produced hit songs.
Chimbetu who is on a tour to remember his late father Simon is expected to put a splendid show on the night.
The musician’s publicist Joe Nyamungoma said they were looking forward to a great show with Chirimuko.
“We are looking forwad to a great show as we are working with different artists on the commemoration of Simon Chimbetu,” he said.
Another commemorative gig will be held tomorrow when Chimbetu will share the stage with Jacob Moyana and Somandla Ndebele at Pick and Save in Mutare.
Show promoter Esau Mupfumi said he was honoured to host the show.
“I knew Simon personally so I decided to have a great show for him on Friday,” he said.
On Sunday the show continues at Legends Bar in Marondera with Chimbetu sharing stage with Soul Jah Love.
Show organiser Daniel Masaiti said everything is in place for the show.
