CAPS United recruit Wisdom Mutasa should look for inspiration from his friend, Water Musona, who is slowly making a name for himself in South Africa, as he battles to rediscover his touch.
The duo once signed deals to play in Europe before cutting their stay short.
While Musona is thriving at Polokwane City in the Super Diski, Mutasa is struggling and has now joined CAPS United hoping to find his touch.
His father Lloyd believes CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe’s no-nonsense style will bring out the best in his son.
“I think it all comes down to the type of friends you associate with,” said Lloyd Mutasa.
“If you are a Premier League player and you choose to befriend some Division Three players, the result is you will end up adjusting to their thinking.
“That’s what made the difference between Musona and Wisdom.
“During my days, I used to associate with the likes of Callisto Pasuwa, Desmond Maringwa and Murape Murape who were all very good players.
“I just hope that he will take a cue from what I have advised him otherwise he is a good player. I am happy he is working under Lloyd Chitembwe.”
Wisdom recently returned from an unsuccessful stint in the Tanzanian top-flight and is on assessment at CAPS United.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was once highly-rated and even captained the Young Warriors.
“I have told him (Wisdom) that it can only be now or never. I told him to pull up his socks,” said Mutasa.
“He needs to work extra hard as talent alone cannot take you anywhere. He started well as a player and he used to be humble.
“But somewhere along the way the media started to shower him with praise before he had actually started to play real soccer.”
