The steely defender’s move has shut the door to Black Leopards who wanted to lure him to Limpopo Province.
Sweswe spent three seasons at Amakhosi and spent the better half of the season on the terraces after picking a knee injury.
In an interview yesterday Sweswe said he was ready for the new challenge.
“I don’t have any regrets about leaving Kaizer Chiefs as I had nice time and managed to play many games in my three years. Actually, I was at home at Chiefs and now I believe it’s time to move on.
“I am happy that there are a number of teams interested in my services. I am happy to stay in Jozi (Johannesburg). My deal with Bidvest Wits is almost sealed because we have agreed on terms. As for my fitness, I am about 80 percent fit and by the start of the season I would have fully recovered,” Sweswe said.
Aaron Mokoena’s settlement demands which stalled his exit from Portsmouth and subsequently his signing with Bidvest Wits might have made the students to go for the Zimbabwean defensive rock.
Bidvest Wits is also home to former Warriors and Caps United goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro.
Locally, Thabani Moyo is back from Cyprus and according to one of his postings in a social network site, the lanky striker is job hunting.
“I will miss Cyprus mmmh,” he wrote.
The Mzilikazi-based striker could not be drawn into revealing his next destination though it is believed that he could either rejoin his childhood club Highlanders or FC Platinum.
There are also rumours that he might go for trials at one of South Africa’s Premiership clubs. The local transfer window opens on Sunday and most clubs will be busy beefing up their squads.
“We are on a survival operation which is not an easy road. The truth is we do not have quality players and with funds permitting I would like to go to the market and beef the squad,” said Quelaton gaffer Philani “Beefy” Ncube after losing 1-0 to Hardbody on Sunday.
Hardbody coach Tavaka Gumbo also said he would sign players to beef up his squad.
There are also rumours that Chicken Inn will offload striker Daniel Zokoto who has struggled to break into the team. On loan FC Platinum defender Brighton Dube might also be released.
Castle Lager Premiership log leaders Highlanders recently said they were yet to get any feedback from their technical team on the players they want.
Bosso are likely to look for an offensive player and a roving midfielder who can also carry the day in case playmaker Mthulisi Maphosa is off form or gets an offer outside the country.
