Wiz Khalifa cleared of drug charges

cleared of drug charges stemming from a 2010 arrest.

According to The Daily Reflector, all charges that stem from an incident last November in Greenville, NC, including trafficking marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, were dropped against Wiz due to an error at the time of his arrest.

Along with nine of his colleagues, Wiz was cuffed last November, following a performance at East Carolina University, when campus police seized marijuana from his tour bus.
But District Attorney Clark Everett found that the quantity of marijuana found on Wiz’s bus wasn’t enough to charge them with drug trafficking. The actual amount police seized was a little more than two ounces, much lower than the state’s 10-pound threshold.

“The magistrate or someone at that office must have misread the statute,” said Everett. “We discovered the error maybe two hours after Thomaz paid the bondsman’s premium and left. Because of that, it was a high price he paid for bringing the drug onto the campus. Had he remained to discover the error, he would not have been bonded so high, probably US$1 000.”

As far as the marijuana charge, three of Wiz’s colleagues plead guilty to that back in August and everyone else was cleared.
Wiz was recently nominated for nine BET Hip-Hop Awards, including MVP of the Year. The awards will air October 11 on BET. – XXLmag.
