MANY female music sensations from the likes of Yvonne Chaka Chaka to our very own Stella Chiweshe have interesting stories about how they all began.
Had Wadzanai Vhazhure (38) from Gweru pulled off her stunt to dump her child at itas fatheras place as she went to South Africa with the aim of striking it big in show business gone well, she would have made headlines with the a?gamble that paid offa?.
Unfortunately for her things turned out ugly and she has since appeared before Gweru Magistrate Mr Musaiona Shotgame facing a charge of ill-treatment or neglect of children which she pleaded guilty to.
a?I am well aware that what I did is wrong, but I was having problems with the father of my child. I therefore, decided to dump the baby at his fatheras place so as to pursue a music career in South Africa.
I am pleading with the court to be merciful with me as I have another child whom I have to take care of,a? said Vhazhure.
But the magistrate in her ruling described Vhazhureas action as a?shamefula? and a?irresponsible.a?
a?How can you leave a two- -month-old baby at a time when she needs you the most? The most disheartening part is that you left the baby alone and went to pursue a music career in South Africa,a? said Shotgame.
Prosecuting, Mr Jabulani Gwapedza told the court that on February 27 last year at around 9PM the accused person left her two -month-old baby alone at Walter Lungaas house.
When the complainant arrived at the house he found the baby alone and he phoned Vhazhure who told him that he should take care of the baby alone.
The complainant took the baby to his mother. On December 15 the complainant met with the accusedA in Gweru town since she had returned from South Africa.
The accused person was apprehended on December 17.
