A 20-year-old Macheke woman on Monday aborted a three-month pregnancy and hid the twin foetuses in a bucket of maize-meal.
Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of Beatrice Frayer of Bluegum Farm in connection with the case.
Frayer will appear in court soon.
It is alleged that at midday on January 20 Frayer, an employee at Bluegum Farm, consumed an unknown substance and successfully terminated her pregnancy.
The matter came to light when her fellow workmates noticed changes in her appearance.
The workmates tasked a 40-year-old colleague to investigate the matter.
The woman conducted a search in Frayer’s house and discovered two foetuses hidden in a bucket of maize-meal.
The farm workers took Frayer and the foetuses to Macheke Police Station.
Frayer was referred to Marondera General Hospital for medical examination which confirmed that she had had an abortion.
