A 22-year-old woman from New Parklands in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle and cash from a man she had spent the night with.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the arrest of Nicole Dube, who is accused of stealing a Toyota Tundra valued at US$70 000 and US$1 000 in cash from a 37-year-old man from Khumalo suburb.
On 15 July 2025 at around 4PM, the complainant picked up the accused in Parklands and proposed love to her. The two agreed to spend the night together and went to the complainant’s house, where they had supper, drank beer and later went to bed.
While the complainant was asleep, the accused allegedly took his wallet, which had US$1 000, and the keys to his Toyota Tundra. She disappeared with the vehicle. The complainant woke up around midnight and discovered both the accused and the vehicle missing. He also found that the durawall had been hit.
He later received an anonymous call informing him that his vehicle had crashed into a slab and was stuck at a tower light near Chicken Inn Tredgold. He went there and recovered the vehicle, but the accused was not present.
At around 2AM, the accused allegedly returned to the complainant’s residence in a taxi and attempted to steal another vehicle, a BMW, which was in the yard. She started the engine but was disturbed by the gardener, who alerted the complainant. He went outside, found the accused still in the yard, and apprehended her before taking her to the police.
The total value of the stolen property is US$71 000. Property worth US$70 000 was recovered.
Inspector Msebele urged members of the public to be cautious about the people they associate with, as some may have hidden intentions.
