A BULAWAYO woman hit her cousin with a brick on the forehead accusing her of spreading rumours that she is a syphilis-infected bed hopper.
Kudzai Gondo, 34, pleaded guilty to the assault when she appeared before magistrate Sibongile Msipa –Marondedze yesterday.She was cautioned and discharged.
Msipa–Marondedze told Gondo not to commit a similar offence again because the court would send her to prison without an option of a fine.
In her defence Gondo told the court that she assaulted Vongai Mkhiwa because she was gossiping.
“Your worship l did not assault her with a stone but l used a fist. She was spreading rumours that lam a bed hopper and that l have syphilis. Her lies angered me,” said Gondo.
The state’s case as presented by Nkathazo Dlodlo is that on April 20, at around 6PM and at Engen Service Station, Gondo and Mkhiwa had a misunderstanding.
“Gondo confronted Mkhiwa accusing her of spreading falsehoods about her,” said Dlodlo.
The court heard that Mkhiwa denied the allegations and this angered Gondo.
Gondo, said Dlodlo, picked up a brick and hit Mkhiwa once on the top of her right eye.
“Mkhiwa sustained a deep cut but she did not seek medical attention,” he said.
