A 21-YEAR-OLD woman from Hellenvale in Umguza has been arrested after allegedly killing her boyfriend during a violent lovers’ quarrel in the early hours of Sunday.
Police confirmed the arrest of Getrude Mpofu, who is accused of killing Norman Ndlovu (29) following a heated argument that ended tragically.

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu said the couple began fighting around 3AM in the presence of Mpofu’s younger sister, who later fled the scene to avoid the violence.
“The younger sister left them fighting and went away,” she said.

At around 7:35AM, the younger sister reportedly called a neighbour to check on the couple since she had left them fighting. The neighbour, a 23-year-old man, found Norman lying motionless and immediately alerted police.
“The police found the now deceased with a cut on the chest, scars on the neck and his body,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.

Mpofu was arrested soon after, and during interrogation, she claimed she only struck him once with a brick on the head.
Asst Insp Ndlovu urged the public to find peaceful ways of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.

“We encourage members of the public to desist from violence as it leads to unnecessary loss of life but find amicable ways of solving their differences,” Asst Insp Ndlovu said.
