A FORT Rixon woman has dragged the father of her five-year-old child to court demanding $1,478 for maintenance.
Jackelinah Mpofu and Robert Hendrik Cloete of Mazowe, yesterday appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Vivian Mpofu.
Cloete said, “Your worship l have no problem with supporting my child but the issue is that she is refusing me access to my child, it’s been two months. She said l’m not to see my child”.
The magistrate cautioned Mpofu about barring Cloete from seeing his child saying such behaviour might make him reluctant to support the child.
The magistrate advised Cloete to approach the juvenile court to seek an order compelling Mpofu to let him visit his child.
The magistrate said to Cloete, “You are to pay $500 as maintenance until the child is 18-years-old with effect from the end of October”.
Court records indicate Cloete is a motor mechanic earning an average of $5,000 a month while Mpofu is unemployed.
